Listen 04:56
listen, listen longing and loss in the struck bell’s recurrent calling no time in which to forget
2.
FINIS 04:52
Over silent waters
 day descending
 night ascending
floods the gentle glory of the sunset
In a golden greeting splendidly to westward
 as pale twilight trem-
 bles
 into Darkness
comes the last light’s gracious exhortation Lifting up to peace
so when life shall falter standing on the shores of the
 eternal
 god
 May I behold my sunset
 Flooding over silent waters
3.
When I have fears that I may cease to be Before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain, Before high-pilèd books, in charactery, Hold like rich garners the full ripened grain; When I behold, upon the night’s starred face, Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance, And think that I may never live to trace Their shadows with the magic hand of chance; And when I feel, fair creature of an hour, That I shall never look upon thee more, Never have relish in the faery power Of unreflecting love—then on the shore Of the wide world I stand alone, and think Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.
4.
So tired of having suffered, more tired of having loved. Life, having charmed me with its open spaces, Now tightens around me its monotonous glove, And my dream, seeing the walls around it rise, Curls up in melancholy surprise. Who knows, on hearing the touching sounds of fall, Whether it is stifling a sob or holding a song at bay, As solemn as time and, like time, equivocal? My heart, without knowing it, has turned away.
5.
All the words that I gather, And all the words that I write, Must spread out their wings untiring, And never rest in their flight, Till they come where your sad, sad heart is, And sing to you in the night, Beyond where the waters are moving, Storm darkened or starry bright.
6.
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on that sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

The Night 06:42
I know what it’s like to be alone in the middle of the night. To think that this is it, if not now then soon, if not soon then one day. Alone, in the middle of the night. Alone, facing the night. Alone, with nothing but the night. Alone. And soon, just the night.
9.
Darest thou now O soul, Walk out with me toward the unknown region, Where neither ground is for the feet nor any path to follow? No map there, nor guide, Nor voice sounding, nor touch of human hand, Nor face with blooming flesh, nor lips, nor eyes, are in that land. I know it not O soul, Nor dost thou, all is a blank before us, All waits undream'd of in that region, that inaccessible land. Till when the ties loosen, All but the ties eternal, Time and Space, Nor darkness, gravitation, sense, nor any bounds bounding us. Then we burst forth, we float, In Time and Space O soul, prepared for them, Equal, equipt at last, (O joy! O fruit of all!) them to fulfil O soul.
10.
Perhaps if Death is kind, and there can be returning, We will come back to earth some fragrant night, And take these lanes to find the sea, and bending Breathe the same honeysuckle, low and white. We will come down at night to these resounding beaches And the long gentle thunder of the sea, Here for a single hour in the wide starlight We shall be happy, for the dead are free.
11.
i am a little church(no great cathedral) far from the splendor and squalor of hurrying cities –i do not worry if briefer days grow briefest,
 i am not sorry when sun and rain make april my life is the life of the reaper and the sower;
my prayers are prayers of earth’s own clumsily striving (finding and losing and laughing and crying)children whose any sadness or joy is my grief or my gladness around me surges a miracle of unceasing
birth and glory and death and resurrection:
over my sleeping self float flaming symbols
of hope, and i wake to a perfect patience of mountains i am a little church(far from the frantic
 world with its rapture and anguish)at peace with nature –i do not worry if longer nights grow longest;
i am not sorry when silence becomes singing winter by spring,i lift my diminutive spire to
merciful Him Whose only now is forever:
standing erect in the deathless truth of His presence (welcoming humbly His light and proudly His darkness)

about

Multi award-winning pianist and composer, Andrea Keller has created a sublime meditation on the omnipresent sentiments of death, grief and loss. Incorporating poetry that spans centuries and the globe, Still Night: Music in Poetry is a song-cycle composed by Keller (2016), and features Australian jazz vocalists Vince Jones and Gian Slater, alongside Julien Wilson (saxophone/bass clarinet), Stephen Magnusson (guitar) & Andrea Keller (piano). As Robert White so eloquently wrote, “Meditating on a beautiful expression of sadness can help to provide a thoroughly uplifting sense of consolation”. Still Night engages listeners in a sensitive – and ultimately consoling – conversation on this delicate topic.
